Live by the 3, die by the 3

The 3-point gods giveth, and they taketh away.

TCU built a 15-point halftime lead on the strength of 7-of-13 shooting from 3, but missed their first five attempts of the second half as Ohio State made it a one-possession game.

Jayden Pierre finally connected on one just before the last TV timeout to end the drought.

TCU leads 46-40 with just under 12 minutes to go.

Jake Diebler finally plugged the controller back in!

Ohio State roars back with a 10-0 run of its own to turn what had been a double-digit point deficit into a three-point contest. Four-year Buckeyes starter Bruce Thornton still hasn’t gotten going, but here comes John Mobley Jr., bombing away from 3 and actually looking unafraid to drive into the teeth of TCU’s defense.

Might have a good finish yet…

H2 12:36 - TCU 43, Ohio State 40

It is a 10-0 run for the Buckeyes.

TCU struggling to shoot.

The Horned Frogs are only up three.

What a comeback from Ohio State.

H1 14:57 - USF 7, Louisville 7

At the first TV timeout, USF and Louisville are tied at seven apiece.

Even game so far. But Louisville is outrebounding USF 9-4 early on.

Something to watch.

TCU starts the second half 1-for-10, and that’s certainly a way to let Ohio State back into this game… if the Buckeyes weren’t also a mess offensively.

Might be first to 65 today.

Nebraska offensive rebounding

Nebraska does not have a reputation for being a great offensive rebounding team. In fact, it's the opposite — the Huskers are 314th of 365 Division I teams in offensive rebounding percentage. But they've destroyed Troy there today, grabbing 11 of 21 first-half misses.

Those 17 second-chance points Joe mentioned are a difference maker in a 16-point game.

Fred Hoiberg's Cornhuskers are 20 minutes from making history — or making people stop reciting their history as the only Power 5 program to never win an NCAA Tournament game.

Pryce Sandfort has 17 points to lead all scorers.

Nebraska is just 9-for-27 apart from Sandfort, but they have 10 assists on 14 baskets and 17 second-chance points. Troy hit some shots early but is just 7-for-21.

That's 14 fewer field-goal attempts for the Trojans, thanks largely to 10 turnovers.

A sluggish start to our second half as we've seen three baskets scored in four minutes of inaction.

TCU is still comfortably ahead, 41-28, at the first TV timeout, and the Frogs' defense continues to frustrate Ohio State's Bruce Thornton, who can't find any breathing room as second defenders constantly lurk when he gets the ball.

USF with homecourt advantage in Buffalo

Don't be surprised if South Florida has the homecourt advantage against Louisville in Western New York.

USF coach Bryan Hodgson grew up in the area and expected close to 40 friends and family members in attendance for the 11th-seeded Bulls' first NCAA Tournament game since 2012.

A large section of the lower bowl at KeyBank center was loaded with Bulls fans, dressed in green and waving large flashing green glow sticks.
